What can I say? I am truly Blessed! My name What can I say? I am truly Blessed!

My name is Mark Jennings, and I settled in Canada from Trinidad & Tobago in the early 1970s. I am a proud father of four daughters Aelish, Hazragh, Yasmin, and Deirdre. I have seven grandchildren who are the loves of my life. Despite the challenges that life throws at you, I pride myself on being a humble, god-fearing, caring, understanding, trustworthy, and kind-hearted human being.

After suffering from an almost near-fatal accident on the job, hours of spinal surgery, months of physiotherapy, and years of coping with depression due to my condition, I am grateful to be alive. Dealing with Heart Disease and my wife's loss to cancer in 2016 has not been easy. Life is not easy as they say. I am a firm believer that giving back is better than receiving. I am a firm believer that turning negative energy into positive energy changes the course of your life. With the love and support of my family, friends, spiritual community, and God – I am becoming an eternal optimist.

I choose to spend my time as an active member in my church, volunteering as a member of the Knights of Columbus, as a Chief Councillor of the Columbian Squires for boys ages 8-18, and giving back to the Seniors in our community. As a member of the Passion for Parkinson's Foundation I am committed to leading the best life with the very best in our community to raise awareness and make a change for the better. You cannot make a "comeback" without a "setback." As I mentioned before, I am truly blessed!

Parkinson’s, like many illnesses, is not top of Parkinson’s, like many illnesses, is not top of mind until it directly affects you or someone you care for. I soon learned how life changing this diagnosis was when my sister in law, Cathy, and a dear friend, Andre, were diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I witnessed how Parkinson’s impacted and changed their lives, their daily struggles and challenges. Their courage, strength and determination to live well with Parkinson’s inspired me to help make a difference.

I am a member of The Passion for Parkinson’s Foundation, we raise funds to provide essential programs and services for people with Parkinson’s and 100% of these funds remain in our Community. Exercise and creative activities are proven to have measurable benefit for those with Parkinson’s and I can attest to this first hand; Cathy took up painting and swimming, Andre started cycling and training and it did make a difference. April is Parkinson’s awareness Month, please support our “Stronger Together” Candle Campaign, your contribution could make the difference in funding a new program.

My name is Janice Horn. I have been married for 29 My name is Janice Horn. I have been married for 29 years and have 4 grown children.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2006 at the age of 37, although I had been suffering with symptoms for five years before that. It was a devastating blow to say the least. I've been living with this disease now for 19 years. Because I have always been an artist (I taught my first art class at four years old!) I used art to express the feelings of sadness and despair that followed. I truly believe that art saved my life.
Because I found it so beneficial, I decided to create an art group for people with PD. The SHAKE it up! Creative Arts Group officially started 4 years ago -- the first of its kind in Canada! Since then, it has grown in size and is now available online.

This program is not only a lot of fun, it promotes wellness by exercising the brain, utilizing small motor skills, encouraging relaxation and much more!

I love to using my art to raise awareness and educate the public about the realities of living with a chronic, progressive disease.

The impact of this life-changing event forced us to retire from the business and re-write our next chapter together. Today we are connected and committed to our “Passionate” Foundation family and our goals to enhance the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s.
